Winter Makeup and 2022 Trends

Winter Makeup and 2022 Trends

There is a certain beauty attributed to winter, unlike summer with its carefree, sun filled days, winter recalls rugging up and going for wintry walks along the beach, drinking wine by the fireside and snuggling under the covers on a Sunday morning.

After a brisk walk my skin feels fresh and invigorated and it is with this in mind, I wanted to share with you the latest winter makeup trends to try now.

Soft Sheer Skin

Have you heard the term ‘soft skin’? Celebrity makeup artists are telling us this is a trend that’s here to stay.  The focus is on breathable, lightweight products to showcase beautiful sheer skin.

Winter has just arrived at our doorstep so with this in mind let’s try this ‘soft skin’ trend.  Reach for the liquid and cream foundations and apply it only where it is necessary.  If you find that it is not sheer enough mix a little foundation with moisturiser.

But first, start with clean skin and don’t skip your weekly exfoliation process.  You want a healthy complexion to start with.  Keep in mind that you are trying to achieve a refreshed, dewy look.

Get this with the SCOUT Fluid Foundation and SCOUT Crème Compact Foundation.

Detailed, accentuated Brows

There have been many brow trends throughout the years, some I have embraced and others, well not so much.  Currently I am loving the detailed, accentuated brows which are everywhere.  This technique of using two brow products is really clever and will help to correct and enhance the brows. To achieve this, I recommend using the SCOUT Eyeliner/Shadow chubby pencil for structure and outline and then SCOUT brow dust to fill in the gaps.

Contoured or Diffused Lips

Two different trends to adopt according to your mood.  Personally, I like the diffused lip for a low-key kind of day. Concentrating colour in the centre of the lip and fading out at the corners.

Whereas at night, go for high glamour and try the contoured lip by carefully outlining your lips and filling in with a matching creamy lipstick.

These two options are effortless to achieve and will have you subtly updating your current look in no time.

SCOUT Lip Liner/Lipstick pencils are the perfect choice for either look as you get a liner for precision and lipstick at the same time. The SCOUT Pure colour Organic lipstick is great for the contoured evening look.

Taking Blush to the Next Level

The idea here is to think of this as you would if you were painting a water colour.  For a healthy day look, apply a light wash of blush on the apples of the cheek and experiment with taking it up high on to the cheekbone.  Also, don’t be afraid of experimenting, you can also apply this ‘wash’ effect with blush by lightly applying it to the temples.

For some evening glam you could try going really bold with your blush. Start with a wash of colour and then add more!!! Low key for day and amp it up for night-time star power.

SCOUT Pure Colour Mineral Blush can be used in its powder form or blend a little with moisturiser and apply with fingers.

Winter makeup doesn’t have to be boring instead opt for keeping skin in top condition with a great skincare regime and aiming for a refreshed, dewy result.  Accent the darker clothing that typically gets worn in winter by adding a little pop of colour with your makeup, a statement lip or a winged eye.
